The Lion

The special meaning behind the Jack Reid Foundation logo

Jack attended The Buckley School from age 6 to 15. During their final year, each boy is asked to carve a wooden plaque to represent himself, which is permanently placed on the wall of the school. Jack carved the lion above which has become the JRF logo.

Jack was born under the sign of Leo, and from a very young age loved lions and felt a strong kinship with them. Two of Jack’s favorite stories were The Lion King and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Jack felt drawn to the symbol of the lion.

Jack was fiercely loving and kind and enjoyed being a leader and friend to all. He bravely stood up for himself even after becoming the target of lies. The strength and integrity of his character defines Jack above all else. The symbol of Jack’s lion, carved with his own hands, reflects his everlasting presence. He advocated for honesty, integrity, truth, kindness and compassion. He was steadfast in his beliefs. The lion lives on.
