About the Jack Reid Foundation
The Jack Reid Foundation (JRF) is a public charity dedicated to honoring the memory of Jack Reid, a kind, compassionate, and dedicated seventeen-year-old high-school junior. Jack’s life was tragically cut short on April 30, 2022 after ongoing bullying and cruel behavior by his classmates at school.
We firmly believe that no child should endure the cruelty and anguish that Jack experienced. Our mission is to prevent bullying in secondary schools through advocacy, education, and legislative reform.
We believe the only way to impact bullying is to positively change schools’ culture and community environment. Our focus is on employing evidence-based anti-bullying strategies and initiatives to educate schools, parents, and communities about more effective bullying-prevention policies and methodologies, with particular emphasis on combating cyberbullying. Through addressing the systems that enable bullying to perpetuate, we can produce change so that other children do not suffer the same fate as Jack.
The initial focus of our efforts will be on raising public awareness and championing the enactment of legislation that sets forth comprehensive anti-bullying requirements for all types of schools—public, charter, private, and religious. Establishing standards that promote transparency, accountability, responsiveness, and proactive prevention measures is critical in maintaining a healthy learning environment for children.
